Alice Yamato & Beltane Uniforn Horn Maiden
This was it. The past two races she had entered the young filly only came fourth and third. Thinking back to when Alice heard the news of Beltane's twin sister, Axis Mundae coming first in her first race, everyone started to have some high hopes for Bella. They did have to remember that she only raced once in her Prospect year unlike her twin, so they shouldn't worry so much if she was to be a late bloomer. Alice had decided to wake up earlier than normal and work with Bella before the other horses and doing some chores around the stable. After grabbing Bella's halter and going out to her stall to get her ready, Alice checked her over twice just to make sure everything was good. Darkest Dream's owner, Leon, had put a lot of trust into her by letting her take on this filly. Unfortunately Bella was the one horse they had that could enter the Unicorn Horn series, the first big race of the year. Hopefully she would do her completely best in the Unicorn Horn Maiden race and do Darkest Dream’s proud.
Sighing, it had already been thirty minutes and the dark filly was only just agreeing to get all her gear on. So much for an early start... Alice thought before shaking her head. This wasn’t the first time Bella was being unwilling and it most certainly would not the last time. Finally she stood there, her bridal and saddle was all on and had been double checked to make sure it wasn’t hurting her or going to hurt her. Bella was going to be racing against a lot of good horses with good bloodlines so it was best to try and make this work out count.
Trotting out onto the track, it was still early enough that was sun was only just coming out now. They had the whole turf track to themselves thankfully but that just meant Bella had no competition and properly wouldn’t strive for her best. Alice could feel her mount prance around a bit, ready to and race with all the energy she had. She had planned out to do just four furlongs with her and hopefully Bella would save up her energy for the big race when he came. The first three furlongs they’d do a nice gallop, nothing too slow or too quick though and then at the final furlong they’d give it their all. Hopefully the black filly would stick to this plan because knowing her; she could easily change it and decide to just gallop as fast as she wanted the whole time.
Moving closer over to the fence, Alice gently squeezed Bella into a canter with a gently rhythm to warm her up and get her ready before they reached the first furlong. As soon as they hit the first furlong, Bella jumped straight into a gallop and was slowly picking up speed. Alice had to keep her under control do she wouldn’t waste all her energy at the start which she commonly did while training. Both of them hardly noticed that they already had reached the third furlong and when they did, Bella picked up her pace, moving into a much faster gallop then before basically racing down the track now and Alice felt rather proud of the young thoroughbred with her work out today. Now if only everything would go well at the Unicorn Horn Maiden race...
